My journey into the video footage stock market “The Plan”

The plan is to get fast and successful into the video footage stock market. It sounds easy but I need “The Plan” an ultimate plan which brings me to the point I wanna be in the next few month.

First Thoughts

My plan is first to find out which topic is the best for me at the start. Lets have a look at the situation what’s possible and what is not possible at this point of time.

Not possible

  • High Speed Videos
  • extreme Macro
  • Videos with a lot of models involved
  • 3D animation with a lot of render time
  • 4K Videos
  • Flying footage … because i have no Phantom  🙁

Possible

  • all kind of video with a resolution of 1920×1080 with DSLR, GoPro and CamCorder
  • all kind 2.7K videos with the GoPro
  • 4K Time Lapse Videos with  the GoPro
  • short 3D animation with a low amount of render time
  • Videos with 1 or 2 models involved

Now that I am clear about what is possible and what not I can now think about some video ideas.

Maybe now is a good time to look at some portfolios of other contributors to see what they are doing and maybe get inspired.

Here are some ideas

  • First idea is that I am using my current 3D stills and think about how to animate them in an interesting way. That seems to be a good start for the 3D animations.
  • Nature! Because it is still green out there it would maybe a good idea to get some fresh air and take some footage of moving leaves, plants, rivers maybe some time lapse of clouds, maybe a sunset or whatever nature brings in front of my lenses
  • Closeups. all kind of business related closeups like hand is moving a mouse, signing some paper, a working printer, pull up phone and so on.
  • Sport videos like running, wake-boarding, snowboarding, skiing, hiking, freeletics

Do I maybe need some more equipment?

If I look at the portfolios of others there are some special camera moves and mounts involved, like a Slider rail, Slide cam mount and a suction cup mount for the GoPro. These mounts are not really expensive but I want to keep the costs down and do my first video footage without buying new things. But with the first earnings I will buy these things.

Setting a goal

So now I have to set a goal. But what? Should I set a goal how much video footage I uploaded or how much I sold or how much I earned? A goal is something you should reach by yourself and not depends on others, so it is the amount of upload I will set as a goal. In the previous Post (link) there was something like a goal. The Alamy upload minimum of 250 video footages. Wow that seems a lot but its a goal. So it is, my first goal is to upload 250 video footages. And of course all these videos should be done in a specific time frame. But how long will it take to do 250 videos. If I do some series it should be possible to do them in about 3 month or so. That means New Years Eve is the deadline.

Time Line

Like I said before, for 3 month from now on the 22. of September 2014 until the 31 of January.

Ok this needs a very strict planning. From now on 17 and a half week.
