In my work a tutor, iam often asked: “Why do dont share this or this”.
Sometime you cant share things with other people.
Since iam woking for Stockagencies iam nearly every day confronted with copyright and royalty.
And thats perfectly fine. Because its absolutly OK if somene put an copyright on their own work. And you should do it too. A copyright or a Creative Commons License
doesnt mean that the owner wants your money, no it just protects the right for the Creative Object like an Picture, 3D Art or some other Artwork.
For a Photographer as example it is really important to protect the right of the Artwork. You have imageing what is necceary to make a Photoshooting. Theres a lot of Work and money involved to make a Photoshooting happen.
First there is the Camera. If you buy a professional DSLR you have pay at minimum $2,000 and theres no maximum. You have to buy Flashlight, Studio Equipment, Computer, Photoshop, Lightroom and much more.
To realize a good Photostudio it will cost at minimum $25,000 or more. Then you need maybe a model or some props, then you have to pay your assitance (if have one). And the Photoshooting is not the end there is much more to
do, like Postprocessing in Photoshop or Lightroom.
However to make a professional Photoshooting it needs a lot of work and money.
And now just think by yourself…. would you share for free?
The same Problem has the 3D-Artist. First the Concept, hours of modelling, texturing and postprocessing and render time. And as 3D-Artist you cant do your work on a weak Computer you have to spend a lot of money only that you can begin with your work. So what…. would you share for free?
And what about the hours, days and weeks or years of studying and practicing.
If i make a resume my days at work sometimes more the the half of my daytime is studying. And studying time is no money time.
And thats why iam not share all of my work for free.
